Almost all of Pinoy kids who grew up in the 90s knows a thing or two about Pokémon as a japanese anime television series, as a video game series in our or handheld video game device(The famous Game Boy), console games, and now in our mobile devices through emulator.
July 06, 2016 was declared as a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Fitr (Feast of Ramadhan). Early morning of that day, several mirrored links of the leaked Pokémon Go android application package(.apk) was uploaded via apk repository online and spread like a wildfire in the Philippine internet through blog posts and of course Facebook.
It was a cold and rainy day but our aspiring pinoy ‘trainers’ didn’t stay in their own houses but instead they take a walk outside and catch ’em all pocket monsters some used bicycle just to reach the farthest Pokemon nearby their location. I was able to play the game for a short period of time just to test and what I only got that day was a very cute Bulbausar!
My timeline, or almost all of my friends’ Facebook timeline also flooded by a lot of screenshots of their first catch or of their Pokédex for show-off. (OH yeah! Lucky for you!) haha! But I believe that when the official Pokemon GO start here in PH, all our data will start from scratch so don’t be jealous if your friend got a Mewtwo(and if it’s real) :D
